Call for Artists

Are you an artist looking for a place to display your work?  Well we have a wonderful opportunity to work with  inspiring fellow artists waiting for you.  Wouldn't you like this to be your display?  Well now is your chance.  Valley Artisans Market is looking for new artists. Our jury meets on the fourth Friday of every month so get your body of work together and come on in and get an application. Please remember though that there is a jury process and that you must bring in your best work and it has to be complementary to the work and quality of our other artist members and our space is limited.   Our hours are Monday thru Saturday 10:00AM to 5:00PM and Sunday from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM.  There is a slight time commitment but many of our members drive from distant locations, happily I might add.  There are also quarterly meetings and you must work on a committee.  But as I am a traveler myself, it is a quite enjoyable ride.  The scenery is beautiful, the quality of work here at Valley Artisans Market is exceptional and the warmness of the other members will make you glad you took the leap.

Our Next Show in the Small Gallery

Richard Dubin is the painting name of Barry Targan. (He paints under this name to avoid confusion with his wife, the well-know painter Arleen Targan.) Besides painting, Barry works in various materials and forms, most recently enameled copper and wood. Before beginning his career as a painter, Targan taught English Literature and Creative Writing at various colleges, including 20 years at Binghamton University. He is the author of three novels and three collections of short fiction. See his most recent paintings in the Small Gallery from March 2 to 27.

Thanks to the wonderful Martha who runs the Valley Artisans Market Facebook page, please go and friend us if you haven't already and please come and see Richard's work in person.

Valley Artisans Market

Welcome to the Valley Artisans Market Blog.  We are a member-run, cooperative gallery offering an eclectic mix of fine art and crafts produced by local artists.  Founded in 1981, VAM has remained in it's original location at 25 E. Main Street in beautiful Cambridge, NY.  We are located on the first floor of historic Hubbard Hall where there are many wonderful artistic classes and concerts and many community based events. We also have many wonderful artists lined up for the Small Gallery in the rear of the Market.

Valley Artisan's Market is a wonderful destination if you are visiting beautiful Upstate NY and we are just a stone's throw from Manchester, Vermont.  I might even say that if you are looking for something to do we are less than an hour from Saratoga Springs and  Troy and many other locations in the Saratoga- Capital District Area.  The ride is divine during all four seasons.  Lovely mountain views, beautiful landscapes and many other interesting sights to take in on the road to VAM.

On this blog, you will find information about all of  our upcoming shows in the small gallery, you will get to know each of the many wonderful artists and see  beautiful examples of their current work and perhaps we can expect a little peek at some of their new work too. Also we will have links to many of our members websites and blogs and  let you know when they have something special to tell us about.  We would love to hear your thoughts on the artists and their work so please make sure you leave a comment if you wish.  This blog is as much about you as it is about us.

So welcome to the first day of our new blog and please bear with us as we get the blog going.  Have a great day and if you are in the area please drop in we would love to see you.
